Overview
- Relatos modernos: Obras emblemáticas de la Colección Gelman Santander runs Feb. 17–May 17, 2026, at the Museo de Arte Moderno in Chapultepec.
- The 68 works, unseen in Mexico for nearly two decades, include ten Frida Kahlo oils and pieces by Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, María Izquierdo, José Clemente Orozco and others.
- At least 27 works carry Monumento Artístico status and were registered with the national conservation registry to ensure control, traceability and safe handling.
- Curated by museum director Marisol Argüelles, the exhibition is organized into four thematic nuclei exploring national iconography, tensions between tradition and modernity, and artistic experimentation.
- Cultural authorities say the presentation follows months of coordination among the collection, INBAL and the Culture Secretariat and inaugurates the Colección Gelman Santander’s new international itinerary.
