Overview
- Geely Auto, which launched the i-HEV Intelligent Hybrid on Monday, says the system uses an AI energy manager to read conditions like temperature and altitude to pick the most efficient drive mode.
- The setup pairs dedicated BHE-family engines (1.5, 1.5TD, or 2.0TD) with an 11-in-1 electric drive rated at 313 PS and a claimed engine thermal efficiency of 48.4%.
- A Geely Emgrand using i-HEV recorded 2.22 litres per 100 km in a highway test, which the company says set a Guinness World Record.
- Standardized WLTP fuel-use figures are higher, at 3.98 L/100 km for the Preface i-HEV and 4.75 L/100 km for the Monjaro i-HEV.
- Geely plans to roll out i-HEV this year to the Preface, Monjaro, Starray, and Emgrand, a move analysts say targets the long-held lead of Japanese full-hybrid makers.
