Gboard Beta Adds Slider That Lets Users Resize Emojis

The new control lets people scale emoji display separately from text to improve readability and personalization during a limited beta rollout.

Overview

  • Tech site 9to5Google first spotted the option and Mashable reported that Gboard beta users are beginning to see the feature in recent builds.
  • The slider appears in Gboard Settings under Preferences > Appearance, placed beneath the existing font-size control.
  • Moving the slider increases or decreases emoji size independently of font size, so emojis can be made larger without changing typed text.
  • Google has not announced when the emoji-size control will reach all users, and current coverage is based on beta observations rather than an official launch.
  • Gboard is the default keyboard on Pixel phones and is available for other Android devices and iPhones, so the setting could reach a wide range of phones if Google expands the rollout.
