Gaza Reports More Than 73,000 Killed as 1,000‑Day Conflict Sees New Strikes

Gaza's official tallies show catastrophic civilian losses and collapsing services that put a fragile US‑backed truce under severe strain.

Overview

  • Gaza’s Government Media Office released a 1,000‑day report that lists 73,066 killed and 173,514 injured since October 2023, including more than 21,500 children and 1,022 infants.
  • The report says roughly 90 percent of buildings were damaged or destroyed, roughly 80 percent of territory is occupied, and over 2 million people have been displaced with tens of thousands of families wiped out.
  • Gaza’s health system has been devastated with 38 hospitals and 96 health centers destroyed or forced out of service and more than 22,000 patients barred from travel for treatment abroad.
  • Ceasefire violations continue to be reported with Gaza saying hundreds of breaches since the October 2025 truce have killed over 1,000 people and local sources reporting at least three killed in a recent Israeli drone strike in Gaza City.
  • Palestinian factions have rejected foreign oversight and called for escalated resistance and institution rebuilding while UN agencies and rights groups warn of deepening humanitarian harm and press for investigations and greater access for aid and patients.
