Gardaí Seek to Question Conor McGregor After Associate’s Phone Seized

Seizure of an associate’s mobile plus DPP-directed charges for two affidavit witnesses have prompted investigators to press for his testimony

Overview

  • Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation officers asked to interview Conor McGregor on Friday after they recovered a mobile phone from one of his associates as part of a probe into alleged false statements.
  • Two people who supplied affidavits for McGregor’s unsuccessful appeal—Samantha O’Reilly and Steven Cummins—have been charged with making false statements and the DPP has directed they face trial on indictment.
  • The associate whose phone was seized has already been spoken to by detectives and is believed to be outside Ireland, and Gardaí have tried to arrange to speak with McGregor since September 2025 with a further approach in June 2026.
  • McGregor’s solicitor says the fighter is in California under medical care and has offered to assist Gardaí remotely or in person when medically fit to return to Ireland.
  • The criminal inquiry is separate from the 2024 civil finding in the Nikita Hand case, perjury offences carry up to 10 years’ imprisonment on conviction, and the charged associates are due back in court when the prosecution’s book of evidence is served on November 9.
