Garda Investigate Suspicious Death of Man Found at Clondalkin Recycling Centre

Forensic teams are examining the scene and Gardaí have asked the public for help tracing the man’s movements between 17 and 24 July.

Overview

  • A 35-year-old man, later named by Gardaí as Andrew Haire, was found dead in the sorting area of a recycling facility in Clondalkin after 9pm on Friday.
  • Gardaí say Mr Haire was known to be using welfare and homeless services in Dublin and Cork and was believed to have been in Dublin, Kilkenny and Cork between 17 and 24 July.
  • The Garda National Technical Bureau and the Office of the Chief State Pathologist were notified and a post-mortem has been carried out with results being withheld for operational reasons.
  • A senior investigating officer and a family liaison officer have been appointed and Gardaí are asking anyone with information to contact Ronanstown Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line.
  • The recycling firm has said it is cooperating with the inquiry and the case raises questions about the safety of people accessing large waste and recycling sites and how services for homeless and vulnerable people link with such facilities.
