  • The national operation, which began Thursday at 7am, has logged over 1,200 speeding detections and 48 arrests for drink or drug driving.
  • Gardaí reported extreme cases including 173 km/h in a 100 km/h zone near Belturbet, Co Cavan, and 147 km/h in an 80 km/h zone at Milford, Co Donegal.
  • Nearly 110 drivers were also detected holding a mobile phone or not wearing a seatbelt during the same period.
  • Officers are running high‑visibility checkpoints with mandatory intoxicant testing, and An Garda Síochána with the Road Safety Authority urged extra care for pedestrians and cyclists.
  • No road deaths have been reported during the operation so far, and the enforcement remains in place until 7am Tuesday with year‑to‑date fatalities at 55.
