Gang Behind £13.6m UK Cocaine Network Jailed for 30 Years and 5 Months

Investigators say the multi‑agency case dismantled a sophisticated network that relied on encrypted messaging.

Overview

  • Judges at Birmingham Crown Court handed the trafficking group a total of 30 years and five months in prison for a UK‑wide cocaine plot.
  • The sentences were: Shahrukh Hummayiun 10 years 9 months, Gabriele Trinkunaite 7 years 8 months, Sindija Virse 6 years 8 months, and Rubanpreet Kaur 5 years 4 months.
  • Arvinder Bains, whose stop first exposed the network, was jailed in December 2022 for nine years for possession with intent to supply.
  • Investigators say the group moved more than 170 kg of cocaine worth about £13.6 million in 2022 using the encrypted app Wickr, passwords, last‑minute drop points, and site checks.
  • Officers made the remaining arrests in January 2025, detaining organiser Hummayiun at Gatwick as he tried to fly to Dubai and picking up the couriers at home, in what the Organised Crime Partnership says dismantled the network.
