Gamescom Opening Night Live Set for Aug. 25 as Weeklong Live Slate Is Finalised

Organisers have locked the broadcast schedule so viewers know where major trailers, deep dives and a possible surprise Xbox sequel could appear on live streams.

Overview

  • Opening Night Live will air Tuesday, August 25 with a 30-minute pre-show and a roughly two-hour main show hosted by Geoff Keighley and Sjokz, with Kyle Bosman on the pre-show.
  • The ONL stream will be available on YouTube and Twitch and Pure Xbox will host an embedded stream with a live chatroom for real-time coverage.
  • Organisers have confirmed headline appearances for titles including The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, Metro 2039, Final Fantasy VII: Revelation and Valor Mortis, with more trailers and gameplay likely during the show.
  • Xbox will run in-booth live broadcasts starting at 4 p.m. CEST on August 26 and 27, REDstreams will cover Witcher content daily from August 26–31 (10 a.m.–7 p.m. CEST), Netflix will premiere a GTA VI extended look on August 27, and the gamescom awesome indies show airs August 27 at 8 p.m. global.
  • The remaining open question is whether the industry rumor of a surprise Xbox-owned sequel will be revealed during ONL or Xbox’s Aug. 26–27 broadcasts, making live coverage across those streams the way to confirm any last-minute announcements.
