Galicia Seals PAC Pay Deal With Three Unions, Sets Bonus for 24-Hour Saturdays

Union resistance could slow implementation pending a Xunta decree.

Overview

  • Sergas, in a deal signed Wednesday with CSIF, CC.OO. and UGT, set a Saturday bonus from June 1 for 24-hour PAC shifts of €168 for doctors, €135 for nurses and €96 for management and services.
  • Doctors’ overtime pay will rise by €5 per hour in stages, with €2 more from April 2026 and a further €3 from January 2027.
  • PACs, Galicia’s out-of-hours primary care centers, will follow an “effective voluntariness” rule adopted March 27 for staffing these extended duties.
  • The agreement adds 211 PAC posts through 2028 to bolster staffing, including 100 physicians, 80 nurses and 31 management and services roles.
  • CIG-Saúde rejected the pact and backed protests outside the Health Department on Wednesday, arguing the bonus sits in a reversible “special program” and excludes staff who do not complete the full 24-hour shift.
