Overview
- GAIL signed a long-term charter with Greece-based Alpha Gas for the LNG carrier Energy Fidelity.
- The agreement was executed in Athens with Pantheon Maritime Services, Alpha Gas’s Singapore affiliate.
- The vessel can carry 174,000 cubic metres of liquefied natural gas and uses advanced propulsion and fuel-saving systems to lower emissions.
- GAIL plans to deploy the ship to bring in LNG from suppliers including the United States and Russia to diversify where it buys fuel.
- Chartering adds flexible shipping capacity without buying a ship, which can help keep gas flowing to India’s power plants, factories, and city gas customers.
