Integration into Fujifilm’s kojoX network will speed scale-up across the UKJapan supply chain.

Overview

  • Prince Edward opened the expanded Billingham campus on February 11 alongside senior Fujifilm leaders, UK ministers and the Japanese Ambassador.
  • The project adds a 110,000 sq ft manufacturing unit due to be operational in the first half of 2026 with 2,000L and 5,000L single‑use bioreactors providing up to 19,000L capacity.
  • A new Bioprocess Innovation Centre more than doubles campus lab space to over 102,200 sq ft to accelerate bioprocess development.
  • Fujifilm says the site is now the UK’s largest single‑use biopharmaceutical CDMO and will support production of complex medicines for cancer, neurodegenerative diseases and rare disorders.
  • The Billingham campus employs about 960 people, with the expansion reported to support around 150 jobs and reinforce Teesside’s role as a life‑sciences hub.
