Fujifilm Adds Black-and-White and Waterproof Models to QuickSnap Line

The company is betting on a youth-driven revival of disposable film by offering a purpose-built monochrome camera plus a rugged 10‑metre waterproof model.

Overview

  • Fujifilm announced two new QuickSnap single-use cameras called Black and White and Active and said they are the first new entries in the series in about 20 years.
  • The QuickSnap Black and White ships with monochrome film tuned for strong contrast and grain and remains compatible with standard color film processing so development is simple.
  • The QuickSnap Active is a rugged model rated to 10 metres with larger, easy-to-use controls and a lever shutter designed for outdoor and underwater use.
  • Fujifilm gave Japan launch windows and prices — the Active in early August for roughly ¥4,480 and the Black and White from September for about ¥4,300 — and listed U.S. pricing at $24.75 for Active and $22.90 for Black and White with availability later this fall.
  • The company said the QuickSnap line has sold more than 1.7 billion units worldwide and framed the new models as a response to rising interest in disposable and retro film photography among younger users, a trend that has driven stronger sales since 2021.
