Fugitive in Stanton Teen Drive-By Returned From Vietnam to Face Murder Charges

FBI coordination with Vietnamese authorities secured his return to Orange County to face murder and conspiracy counts.

Overview

Quoc-Bao Viet Le was detained by Vietnamese authorities at the FBI’s request and flown to the U.S., then booked into the Orange County Jail on January 21 after a months-long manhunt.
He is accused in the July 5, 2025 attack in Stanton that killed 15-year-old Samuel Vidal and wounded a 13-year-old.
Prosecutors filed counts of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy, and shooting into an inhabited dwelling, along with firearm enhancements that carry a maximum of 50 years to life.
Investigators say the shooting was planned at a Garden Grove home and carried out from a black Mercedes-Benz with obscured plates, with Le and Danny Huynh alleged as the shooters.
Danny Huynh and alleged getaway driver Troy Quang Lu remain in custody, while authorities seek suspected organizer Ali Ibrahim Alsouqi, believed to be in Jordan, and an unidentified fifth participant.
