Fugitive in 'Libros Blancos' Drug Scheme Arrested in Salta and Taken to Buenos Aires

Prosecutors now focus on identifying who owned the cargo.

Overview

  • Police from Buenos Aires City arrested Daiana Marisel S., 27, in Joaquín V. González on March 17 and flew her from Salta to Buenos Aires for judicial questioning.
  • The investigation, called Libros blancos, began in 2022 after parcels with The Jungle Book were found to hide cocaine in a double-bottomed space inside the hard covers.
  • Investigators seized about three kilos of cocaine prepared for export, and LA NACION reported the parcel was bound for Southeast Asia.
  • A judicial source said she was the lowest link used to mail the package, and investigators are now pursuing the organizers who supplied the drugs.
  • The case sits with Economic Criminal Prosecutor’s Office No. 4, led by Claudio Navas Rial, and National Economic Criminal Court No. 5 of Patricio Pinto, in a probe that links city detectives, Salta police, and federal courts.
