FSIS Expands Recall to Walmart and Aldi Frozen Pizzas Over Salmonella Risk

The agency expects to name more affected items soon.

Overview

  • The Food Safety and Inspection Service, which updated its alert Friday, May 1, added several frozen pizzas and snacks tied to a recalled dry milk powder ingredient.
  • Products now listed include Great Value Thin Crust and Stuffed Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch pizzas at Walmart, two Mama Cozzi’s breakfast pizzas at Aldi, a Culinary Circle Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza, and Pork King Sour Cream & Onion pork rinds.
  • Walmart said it put a sales restriction in place, removed the items from stores, and is working with the supplier to investigate.
  • Regulators tell shoppers to throw away or return affected items and not to eat them even if cooked, and they report no confirmed illnesses so far.
  • FSIS says more downstream products could be identified as tracebacks continue, showing how one contaminated ingredient can trigger recalls across multiple brands and retailers.
