FSB Says Alekseev Attack Suspects Confessed, Cites SBU Role

Korba was remanded after extradition from Dubai, with investigators still seeking the organizers.

Overview

  • The Feb. 6 shooting wounded Lt. Gen. Vladimir Alekseev in his Moscow apartment building, and Russian reports said he regained consciousness after surgery.
  • Russian citizen Lyubomir Korba, identified as the alleged gunman, was detained in Dubai and transferred to Russia, while co‑accused Viktor Vasin was arrested in Moscow and Zinaida Serebritskaya left for Ukraine and is to be placed on a wanted list.
  • A Moscow court ordered Korba into pretrial detention, and investigators added a charge of attacking a serviceman to counts of attempted murder and illegal firearms circulation.
  • The FSB says Korba and Vasin confessed and described SBU recruitment in 2025, training in Kyiv, crypto payments, use of a Makarov pistol with a suppressor, and an exfiltration route via Dubai.
  • Security services released operational footage of the extradition and the pistol said to be recovered, while Western intelligence officials cited by the Washington Post were reported as skeptical of Ukrainian involvement.
