- The patient banked tissue at age 10 in 2008 before sickle cell therapy, was later found to be azoospermic as an adult, and the grafts were not connected to the sperm duct so sperm did not enter semen.
- The results are posted as a medRxiv preprint without peer review, and it is still unknown whether the retrieved sperm can fertilize an egg or result in a healthy birth.
