Overview
- Frontier announced on Tuesday, July 14 that it will begin installing SpaceX’s Starlink in early 2027 and expects its first Starlink-equipped aircraft to enter service then.
- The Frontier announcement is part of an Indigo Partners program that includes Wizz Air, Volaris, JetSMART and Cebu Pacific and aims to fit Starlink on more than 1,000 aircraft across the five carriers.
- Airlines and Starlink say the low-Earth-orbit network will deliver gate-to-gate, low-latency broadband capable of HD streaming, online gaming, voice and operational data for crews.
- Frontier has not disclosed pricing or financial terms and says passengers’ access will come through a new system managed directly by Starlink, raising the possibility of Starlink billing models like the one Copa recently introduced.
