Overview
- The driverless 5.6 km Skyline-Bahn was returned to service on Monday after a suspension that began at the end of May because faults appeared under increasing load.
- Fraport says it fixed the problems by adjusting the track, performing full checks on all vehicles and installing multiple software updates supplied with Siemens Mobility.
- Service has resumed with limits: up to eight trains in operation and a reduced top speed of 50 km/h instead of the earlier 70–80 km/h to allow staged testing.
- The system will be shut nightly between 23:00 and 04:00 for inspections and a bus shuttle will run between terminals during those hours to keep passengers moving.
- Fraport warned isolated technical faults cannot be ruled out, said it aims to restore the previous top speed after further optimizations, and will keep monitoring performance through the summer travel period.
