Franco Mastantuono Joins Fiorentina on Season-Long Loan from Real Madrid

Real Madrid sent the 19-year-old on a one-year loan without a purchase option to win regular minutes and develop under coach Fabio Grosso.

Overview

  • The clubs announced the deal on Friday, confirming the loan runs until 30 June 2027 with no option for Fiorentina to buy and reports that the two clubs will split his salary.
  • Mastantuono passed his medical, was officially presented by Fiorentina and greeted supporters after a large airport welcome that left hundreds of fans waiting for him in Florence.
  • Real Madrid arranged the move because José Mourinho did not see him in the first-team plans and the club wants him to gain minutes after a 2025–26 season in which he played 35 matches and scored three goals.
  • Fiorentina coach Fabio Grosso plans to integrate Mastantuono into the starting group, working on tactical and defensive duties typical of Serie A with a possible league debut on 24 August against Roma.
  • Real Madrid will keep the player’s registration and monitor his development as the club aims to protect Mastantuono’s long-term value, echoing prior Madrid loans used to develop young talents.
