Overview
- Economy Minister Roland Lescure announced on Tuesday, June 30 that the Livret A rate will increase and that the exact new rate will be published around mid-July for application from August 1.
- The decision will follow a formal proposal from the governor of the Banque de France and is being set after officials finalise the formula-based calculation.
- The Livret A rate is recalculated twice a year using the six-month average of inflation excluding tobacco and the €STR, and May inflation of 2.4% helped push the formula higher.
- About 58 million households hold roughly €444.6 billion in Livret A deposits, and the Caisse des Dépôts reported five months of net withdrawals with a €630 million fall in May.
- The increase should raise returns for small savers but will likely remain below the roughly 3% levels seen earlier in 2026 and could affect how households allocate their savings and how public institutions steer deposits toward investment.
