Overview
- Late June the housing ministry confirmed it will remove many 'par geste' single-measure works from MaPrimeRénov' to steer subsidies toward bundled, high-impact renovations.
- The measures to be dropped for isolated funding include roof and attic insulation, window replacement, ventilation systems, wood or pellet stoves, solar water heaters, and heat pumps dedicated only to hot water.
- 'Par geste' support will still cover space-heating heat pumps, connections to heat or cold networks, and oil-tank removal, and the excluded works remain eligible when carried out as part of a global renovation package.
- The building trades group Capeb denounced the move as a 'climate scandal' and is lobbying the government to reverse or soften the change, warning it will hit small firms and homeowners who rely on step-by-step upgrades.
- A decree and an arrêté will be presented to the Conseil national de l'habitat on July 2 and the measures are reported to take effect in September, raising questions about budget limits, a likely last-minute demand surge for soon-to-be-excluded works, and slower renovation uptake if credits are not increased.
