Overview
- Boca Raton police responded to Blue Lake Elementary after an anonymous threat call and later said there was no actual threat.
- The principal told families the campus was secure during the check and then sent an all clear once officers finished.
- The episode was the fourth swatting call in about a week, after similar hoaxes at Boca Raton Middle School, Spanish River High School and Town Center mall.
- Detectives are still searching for the caller and are working with the FBI along with Palm Beach County school and sheriff’s officers.
- Police described swatting as a fake emergency call meant to draw a heavy response and warned it is a crime that can lead to prison time and drains resources while alarming families.
