Four Teens Held After Bystander Halts Machete Fight in London Park

Police appeal for information in a case heightening concern about youth knife violence.

  • The knife fight that erupted in Burgess Park on Sunday has left four teenagers in custody on suspicion of affray, grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.
  • Footage shows two boys with large knives closing in on a third before a bystander steps between them and shouts, "What are you doing? Stop it," as families watched nearby.
  • Officers were called at about 12:30 pm, searched with helicopter support, arrested three near the park and detained a fourth later at a Southwark address.
  • Two of the boys were treated for non-life-threatening wounds at hospital and both were later discharged.
