Four Models Earn Five-Star ANCAP Ratings

The release gives shoppers clear safety scores with a warning about child-seat fit in Tesla’s three-row Model Y L.

Overview

  • ANCAP’s latest round issued five-star ratings to the BYD Seal 6, MG 4 Urban, Skoda Octavia, and Tesla Model Y L under its 2023–25 test rules.
  • The BYD Seal 6 led the group for Adult Occupant Protection at 92%, with 90% for child protection, 84% for vulnerable road users, and 84% for safety assist.
  • Tesla’s Model Y L carried over results from tests of the five-seat Model Y with extra checks for the longer wheelbase, and ANCAP warned that many child seats cannot be correctly fitted in the second row and are hard to install using ISOFIX in the third row.
  • MG 4 Urban logged solid crash results and strong active safety, though ANCAP noted dashboard structures that could injure the driver and a rear seatbelt that allowed too much forward movement, leading to Marginal head protection in a full-width frontal test.
  • Skoda Octavia retained its five-star rating after reassessment for vehicles built from July 2025, scoring 85% for adult protection, 81% for child protection, 81% for vulnerable road users, and 82% for safety assist.
