Overview
- Three masked attackers set fire to four fully equipped Hatzola ambulances parked in Golders Green on March 23, 2026, causing explosions from onboard gas canisters and roughly £1 million in damage to vehicles and nearby buildings.
- Hamza Iqbal, Rehan Khan, Judex Atshatshi and Saif Ali pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to destroying or damaging property being reckless as to whether life would be endangered, with prosecutors saying three lit the fires and a fourth acted as the getaway driver.
- A fifth defendant, Subhan Ahmed, has pleaded not guilty to assisting an offender and will go on trial at the Old Bailey on January 27, 2027, so the court has ordered sentencing for the four guilty men to be held in spring 2027 after that trial concludes.
- The Crown says it will argue at sentencing that the attack had a terrorist connection and investigators led by Counter-Terrorism Policing built their case using CCTV, ANPR and ULEZ camera data, mobile phone records and recovered messages.
