Four Kilograms of Cocaine Found in Professional Hiding Place on A7

Kempten prosecutors have taken over the trafficking probe and the driver is being held in pretrial detention.

Overview

  • Border police from the Grenzpolizeiinspektion Pfronten stopped an Italian-registered car on the southbound A7 and found several packets of cocaine hidden in a professionally installed compartment.
  • Police seized about four kilograms of cocaine, the vehicle, and cash carried by the driver, who is a 29-year-old Albanian.
  • Officers provisionally arrested the driver at the scene and a magistrate later issued an arrest warrant that placed him in pretrial detention.
  • Initial on-scene work was handled by Pfronten and the Kriminaldauerdienst Memmingen while the Fachkommissariat of Kriminalpolizeiinspektion Kempten now leads further investigations under the Staatsanwaltschaft Kempten.
  • The quantity and the professional concealment point to trafficking rather than personal use and investigators will now pursue whether the stop reveals a wider cross-border smuggling network on the A7 transit route.
