Four Indicted in Minneapolis Protests, Including Suspect Accused of Biting Off HSI Agent’s Fingertip

Prosecutors link a wave of threats to FBI agents to personal data stolen from abandoned vehicles during the unrest.

Overview

  • Claire Louise Feng, 27, was indicted on assaulting a federal officer resulting in injury for allegedly severing a Homeland Security Investigations agent’s fingertip during a Jan. 24 protest.
  • Brenna Marie Doyle, 18, was indicted on charges that include threatening to murder a federal law enforcement officer and a family member, with prosecutors citing voicemail threats.
  • James Patrick Lyons, 45, and Jose Alberto Ramirez, 29, were indicted on interstate transmission of threats to injure, with Lyons facing five counts and Ramirez one after texts to FBI employees.
  • Court filings say FBI agents fled the Jan. 14 ICE shooting scene, two vehicles were broken into, guns and IDs were stolen, and posted personal data preceded threatening calls, texts and emails.
  • Defense attorneys say their clients will contest the charges as DHS, ICE and HSI continue investigating, and local reporting notes a separate assault charge accusing Emily Duchateau Baierl of biting an agent.
