Four Held After Fatal Sparkbrook Stabbing

Police say the attack appears targeted, with suspects arrested in Bristol being brought to the West Midlands for questioning.

Overview

  • Emergency services were called to Walford Road in Sparkbrook at about 6.20pm and a man believed to be in his 40s was pronounced dead at around 7pm on Thursday.
  • West Midlands Police launched a murder investigation, sealed a cordon on Walford Road and are carrying out forensic work while recovering CCTV and speaking to witnesses.
  • Overnight four people were arrested in the Bristol area, including a 29-year-old on suspicion of murder and three others on suspicion of assisting an offender, and all are being transferred to the West Midlands for questioning with no charges yet.
  • Officers say the incident is believed to have been a targeted attack involving people known to each other and the victim's family are being supported by police.
