Overview
- Emergency services were called to Walford Road in Sparkbrook at about 6.20pm and a man believed to be in his 40s was pronounced dead at around 7pm on Thursday.
- West Midlands Police launched a murder investigation, sealed a cordon on Walford Road and are carrying out forensic work while recovering CCTV and speaking to witnesses.
- Overnight four people were arrested in the Bristol area, including a 29-year-old on suspicion of murder and three others on suspicion of assisting an offender, and all are being transferred to the West Midlands for questioning with no charges yet.
- Officers say the incident is believed to have been a targeted attack involving people known to each other and the victim's family are being supported by police.
- Police have asked the public to submit CCTV, mobile or dash-cam footage via a dedicated page or by calling 101 quoting log 4881 of 4 June and road closures around the scene remain in place as inquiries continue.
