Four Dead in Separate Ontario Collisions as Police Seek Evidence

OPP reconstruction teams are assisting ongoing investigations into the crashes.

A collision involving a snowmobile and pick-up truck in Loyalist Township has left one person deceased on Jan. 29, 2026. The collision happened around 3:15 p.m. on County Road 5, between County Road 4 and Newburgh Road.

Overview

  • Nipissing West OPP said a 15-year-old from West Nipissing died in hospital after the Sturgeon Falls crash that also killed a 62-year-old Sudbury woman at the scene.
  • Police responded around 11:40 p.m. Saturday to the two-vehicle collision on Nipissing Street, with four occupants from one vehicle hospitalized with serious injuries.
  • Investigators reported receiving some video related to the Sturgeon Falls crash and urged the public not to repost footage, asking witnesses to submit evidence directly.
  • Lennox and Addington OPP said a 61-year-old Kingston snowmobile rider died at the scene after colliding with a pick-up on County Road 5 in Loyalist Township on Jan. 29, and the truck occupants were unhurt.
  • Greater Sudbury Police said the 59-year-old pedestrian struck on Algonquin Road on Jan. 22 died on Jan. 29, noting the SUV driver stopped to help and called emergency services.
