Four Convicted in Joanne Penney Doorstep Killing in South Wales

Prosecutors linked the attack to a turf dispute spanning Leicestershire to South Wales.

Overview

  • A Cardiff Crown Court jury on January 30 found Jordan Mills-Smith, Joshua Gordon, Kristina Ginova and Melissa Quailey-Dashper guilty of murder, while Tony Porter was acquitted of murder and manslaughter but, with three co-defendants, convicted of participating in an organised crime group.
  • Shooter Marcus Huntley, 21, had earlier pleaded guilty and admitted firing the fatal shot at 10 Llys Illtyd, Talbot Green.
  • South Wales Police CCTV showed the trio approaching and leaving the scene from a Nissan Note, and evidence included a selfie Huntley took minutes after the shooting making a gun gesture.
  • Investigators later recovered the pistol at Heritage Park in St Mellons on April 17, 2025, along with 8mm cartridges whose headstamp matched a case found at the murder scene.
  • Sentencing will be set at a court hearing on February 6, with a second related trial scheduled for the end of March.
