Four Arrested as Met Seizes £80,000 in Suspected Stolen Tools at Hounslow Heath Boot Sale

The raid formed part of an intelligence-led crackdown that the Met says has cut thefts from vehicles by 20.3% since April.

Overview

  • Officers recovered about 400 power tools, including drills, nail guns, electric saws and a concrete mixer, during the 11 December operation.
  • Two men, aged 55 and 54, and two 15-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and later bailed pending further inquiries.
  • Police are cataloguing the haul to identify items and trace owners, and are urging tradespeople to mark tools, photograph them and record serial numbers.
  • Superintendent James Rawlinson said the force is targeting prolific offenders and organised groups through proactive, intelligence-led operations and prevention work.
  • Earlier this year, the Met seized more than £500,000 of stolen tools at Romford and Rainham boot sales, and the Hounslow venue drew criticism from Robert Jenrick in November.
