Fountain Police Arrest 32-Year-Old After Liquor Store Robbery Involving Gun, Stolen Vehicle
Interagency technology, from a license-plate reader to a drone, helped locate the suspect within 24 hours.

- Police say the Jan. 6 incident at Klix Liquor Store on Mesa Ridge Parkway involved a theft of several liquor bottles and a gun pointed at a pursuing employee.
- Investigators identified the suspect, Tyson Dunckel, from security video and prior recognition, and determined the getaway vehicle had been reported stolen in Colorado Springs.
- Around 1 p.m. on Jan. 7, detectives located the stolen vehicle on the 3700 block of Betty Drive using Flock license-plate data, the CSPD Real Time Crime Center, and a drone.
- Officers observed Dunckel enter a business wearing a paintball mask and ski goggles; he ran when approached, fell, dropped a handgun, and was taken into custody.
- Dunckel was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on charges of aggravated robbery, motor vehicle theft, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, and menacing.
