Fort Worth Homicide Probe After Road‑Rage Shooting Leaves Passenger Critically Injured

Homicide detectives have opened an active investigation and are asking the public to provide information to help identify the suspect.

Overview

  • Police say the shooting began after an altercation between occupants of two vehicles at Mansfield Highway and Seminary Drive and that someone in the suspect vehicle fired at the other car, hitting the front-right passenger.
  • The shooting occurred late Saturday and officers were called to the 3000 block of Mansfield Highway at about 11:40 p.m., where Forest Hill officers had already found the wounded man inside a vehicle.
  • Responders from the Fort Worth Fire Department transported the male passenger to a hospital where he is listed in critical condition and is not expected to survive.
  • The suspect vehicle fled the scene, police currently consider the incident isolated, and investigators are canvassing for witnesses while urging anyone with information to contact Fort Worth homicide detectives.
  • Homicide detectives have taken over the case and will work to establish motive and identify suspects; the probe comes after separate, unrelated officer-involved shootings were reported earlier in May that have heightened attention to violence in the area.
