Overview
- Ashley A. Fisler, 36, was arrested Thursday in Gloucester County and is being held in the Salem County Jail pending a court appearance.
- Prosecutors filed eight counts, including six first-degree sexual assault charges and two second-degree counts for endangering a child and official misconduct, with potential sentences of up to 20 years for each top count.
- The alleged victim, now an adult, told authorities the sexual encounters took place in 2021 in Fisler’s car and inside her classroom at Orchard Valley Middle School.
- The investigation began after a Jan. 23 report to police and was led by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Special Victims and High-Tech Crimes Units with support from Washington Township Police.
- Officials say text messages between Fisler and the student confirmed the unlawful nature of the relationship, and district leaders say she left the Washington Township schools in April 2023 and is no longer teaching.
