Overview
- A federal jury in Atlanta, which returned its verdict Friday, convicted Adam Schlueter on two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child under 12 and two counts of assault causing serious bodily injury.
- Schlueter will be sentenced July 9 under statutes that require a 30-year minimum term and allow a maximum of life in prison.
- Prosecutors said the abuse occurred in Grafenwöhr, Germany, between 2009 and 2013 while he served in the U.S. Army.
- Both children testified that he beat and choked them, and one said he was pushed through a second-story window and held outside when he was eight.
- FBI Atlanta investigated and Justice Department prosecutors brought the case under Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ program that coordinates child exploitation cases and enables federal prosecution of serious offenses committed abroad by U.S. personnel.
