Former Argo Superintendent Charged Over Alleged $13,000 Misuse of District Credit Card

Prosecutors say investigators found forged invoices used to hide purchases that drained school funds.

Overview

  • Cook County prosecutors filed felony counts against William Toulios including theft of government property, theft, forgery and official misconduct.
  • Investigators say an Illinois State Police probe found at least $13,000 in unauthorized charges on a district card between February 2021 and March 2024.
  • Prosecutors say the spending included more than $4,000 on adult-content websites, more than $4,000 on golf equipment, and over $5,000 in Visa gift cards.
  • Authorities allege Toulios submitted a fake invoice and directed a subordinate to create additional fraudulent invoices to conceal the purchases.
  • Toulios pleaded not guilty in Bridgeview court, was released pending trial, and has a further hearing scheduled for Aug. 24 while prosecutors say the case is a breach of public trust.
