Ford Targets Early Q3 Rollout for New LMDh Hypercar

The program says staying on its booked test plan is vital to make a 2027 World Endurance return.

Overview

  • Ford says development is on plan, with its 5.4-liter in-house Coyote V8 on the dyno and homologation underway.
  • The first Oreca-based prototype is slated to be built within three to four months, then rolled out in the south of France for a week of systems checks before an early Q3 track test.
  • The test program will start in Europe with a 30-hour endurance run, then move to the United States for tougher durability work at tracks such as Sebring.
  • A second test car will join to boost mileage and speed fixes, following a common approach in Hypercar development.
  • Mike Rockenfeller, Seb Priaulx, and Logan Sargeant are signed, with the remaining seats expected late this year to balance proven prototype experience with younger talent.
