Ford Refreshes Mustang Mach-E With GT California Special, Longer Range, New Safety Tech

The update signals Ford's plan to extend its BlueCruise hands-free system to more models this summer.

Overview

  • Ford announced a Mustang Mach-E lineup update that adds a GT California Special trim alongside range and safety upgrades across the range.
  • The GT California Special is a styling-led edition with 20-inch Carbonized Grey wheels wearing GT/CS logos, Blue Rave accents, a hood stripe, and Navy Pier sport seats trimmed in ActiveX and Miko.
  • Extended-range Premium versions gain low rolling-resistance wheels that raise estimated range to 555 km for all-wheel drive and 615 km for rear-wheel drive.
  • Exit Assist now comes standard and uses rear-facing sensors to warn if a cyclist, e-scooter rider, or pedestrian is approaching as a door opens.
  • Ford says BlueCruise, its camera- and radar-based hands-free driving on approved roads, will expand in summer 2026 to the Puma, Puma Gen-E, Ranger plug-in hybrid, and Kuga after debuting on the Mach-E.
