Overview
- Ford Australia announced the recall on Thursday for 13,907 2026 and 2026.5 double‑cab Rangers built between 26 November 2025 and 10 July 2026 to replace parts of the B‑pillar trim.
- The company said routine testing found the B‑pillar trim can contact side curtain airbags during inflation, which may stop the airbags deploying as intended and could allow the trim ramp to detach and raise injury risk.
- About 8,000 of the affected vehicles have been sold to customers and will be prioritised for free repairs by authorised dealers with the remedy expected from mid‑September; dealer stock is on temporary delivery and demonstration hold.
- Ford said it has not recorded any customer incidents linked to the condition and has contacted owners via the FordPass app while urging customers that other airbags remain functional and vehicles can still be used.
- Owners can check their VIN on Ford Australia’s Recall and Service Action page or contact an authorised dealer or Ford’s Customer Relationship Centre on 13 36 73, and the recall is the seventh Ranger recall in the past 12 months which may draw increased regulatory and dealer scrutiny.
