Ford Recalls 140,201 2024–2026 Rangers Over Sun-Visor Wiring Fire Risk

Ford will offer free inspections, conditional harness replacement, plus a software update as the remedy.

Overview

  • Ford issued the recall Wednesday for about 140,201 2024–2026 Ranger pickups after an electrical short risk was found in wiring tied to the sun visor near the windshield pillar.
  • The problem stems from visor or headliner harnesses that sit in the wrong spot or use tape that is too thick, which can chafe wires in the A‑pillar and lead to heat, smoke, melting, or fire.
  • Dealers will check each truck’s history for a B14AA-11 trouble code that flags a visor-lamp short, inspect the visor harness if flagged, replace it if damaged, and load free software that cuts power to the lamp after repeat faults.
  • Dealer notifications went out April 17, owner letters are scheduled for April 27–May 1, and Ford expects to mail repair details in early August at no cost to drivers.
  • Ford reports no crashes or injuries tied to the defect so far, with three warranty claims, two field reports, and one customer service report noted in the U.S.
