Ford Launches AI Assistant in Ford and Lincoln Mobile Apps

App-based access gives owners live, vehicle-specific answers with a built-in, voice-enabled dashboard assistant planned for 2027.

Overview

  • The app rollout began on Monday, August 10, 2026, and Ford says it will expand access in waves to about 8 million Ford and Lincoln owners.
  • The assistant pulls vehicle telemetry such as fuel level, tire pressure, and remaining oil life and uses owner’s manual content to give tailored, model-specific answers.
  • Owners can upload photos for payload and towing checks and ask how-to questions about features like BlueCruise and Pro Trailer Backup Assist through a chat interface.
  • Ford says the service is free at launch, will offer Google’s Gemini as an opt-in option in vehicles, and is built to work with multiple AI models although long-term pricing and partner details remain undisclosed.
  • The move follows other automakers adding in-car AI and signals Ford’s push to add software-led services for owners while raising practical questions about data access and future in-vehicle integration.
