- The expanded recall, announced July 20–21, covers 387,911 vehicles and follows a 2025 campaign after new field reports showed the original fix did not fully resolve the problem.
- NHTSA and Ford say the defect involves the easy-entry second-row outer seat switch bezel which can misalign or unseat, letting the switch bind or stay pressed and allowing the seat to unlatch, tip, or slide unexpectedly.
- Affected models are 2020–2026 Ford Explorer (227,520 vehicles) and 2020–2027 Lincoln Aviator (160,391 vehicles), including some cars that had already received the earlier 25V393 repair.
- Dealers will inspect and replace the bezel free of charge with a redesigned part that has stronger retention force; owner notification letters will go out in late July and a further remedy letter is expected in January.
- Ford logged 14 reports of unintended seat movement and one customer complaint to NHTSA as of mid‑June, with no confirmed crashes or injuries, and the expansion highlights closer regulator oversight and further production changes to the bezel design.
