Overview
- Ford Australia confirmed on Tuesday that the Bronco Basecamp will join its lineup in the second half of 2027 and will be built in China by joint-venture partner Jiangling Motors Corporation as the first export market outside China.
- The company will offer only the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version that uses a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine as a generator, two electric motors for AWD, and a roughly 49 kWh battery with an estimated combined range of about 800–900 km, while final power outputs and local pricing remain unannounced.
- The model is positioned as an adventure SUV with features shown on the Outer Banks grade such as an electric pop-up roof, Ford’s Pro Power Onboard vehicle-to-load capability of about 6.6 kW, an integrated ‘Wild Kitchen’, fold-flat seats and an inflatable mattress accessory.
- Ford Australia is carrying out local development work at public roads and its You Yangs proving ground in Victoria to apply a bespoke suspension tune that the company says may be adopted for other markets.
- The Bronco Basecamp forms part of a wider product push designed to expand Ford’s coverage of Australian market segments to more than 60 percent by 2030 and to offer stronger aftersales guarantees, with a new five-year standard warranty extendable to seven years through dealer servicing.
