Food Delivery Driver Fatally Shot in Southwest Philadelphia

Police say close-range rifle casings and the victim’s running vehicle point to a targeted killing.

Overview

  • Officers found a 42-year-old delivery driver unresponsive next to his running, registered vehicle on the 1000 block of South Python Street after multiple 911 calls about gunfire on Monday evening.
  • The driver suffered a gunshot wound to the back of the head, was taken to Presbyterian Hospital, and was pronounced dead at 10 p.m.
  • Investigators recovered two spent rifle shell casings inches from the body, a DoorDash delivery bag and several cell phones at the scene.
  • Police describe only three masked males in dark clothing as possible suspects and have identified private surveillance cameras in the area that they are seeking for leads.
  • DoorDash said it is cooperating with police, neighbors expressed concern for delivery workers’ safety, and authorities have not released the victim’s name, motive or made any arrests.
