Overview
- TUI and easyJet require infants to be at least 14 days old to fly, while Ryanair does not accept newborns up to seven days and seats infants aged 8 days to 23 months on an adult’s lap.
- UK-registered aircraft rules state babies under six months must be held with an infant lap-strap, with the option to buy a seat for ages six months to two years and use an approved car seat.
- Most flights allow up to two baby items per child for free in the hold, typically including a pushchair and either a car seat, booster seat or travel cot, with gate tagging where required.
- Baby food, milk and sterilised water are exempt from the 100ml liquid limit subject to security screening, and Gov.uk permits breast milk in hand luggage in containers up to 2,000ml, excluding frozen milk.
- All three airlines provide onboard baby-changing facilities, and children must travel on their own passports, with airlines advising medical clearance checks for very young infants.
