Flyers Sign Jack Berglund, Send Swedish Center to AHL on Tryout

The deal launches his shift to North American ice ahead of a camp decision on NHL duty or a loan back to Färjestad.

Overview

  • Jack Berglund signed a three-year entry-level contract on Thursday that starts in 2026–27 and he joined the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms on an amateur tryout for the rest of this regular season.
  • He can skate in the Phantoms’ final games but cannot play in the AHL playoffs because he was not on their roster by the March 6 eligibility cutoff tied to the NHL trade deadline.
  • The 6-foot-4 center captained Sweden to 2026 World Junior gold with 10 points and a tournament-best plus-9, and he posted 7 goals and 12 points in 40 SHL games for Färjestad this season.
  • He still has one year left on his Färjestad contract, so under the NHLSweden transfer agreement he must make the Flyers next fall or be loaned back unless Färjestad allows an AHL assignment.
  • Philadelphia frames him as a two-way, middle-six prospect and he becomes the fourth signee from the 2024 draft class, joining Jett Luchanko, Spencer Gill, and Noah Powell in a recent run of deals.
