Overview
- Justin Andrew Fountain was taken into custody on Aug. 1 after deputies stopped his car on I‑95 and found the stolen memorial teddy bear containing the victim’s son’s ashes in his vehicle.
- Investigators say the victim cut off a brief Facebook Dating relationship and then faced repeated in-person encounters, dozens of calls and more than 100 texts from Fountain as he continued to follow her.
- Police allege Fountain gained unauthorized access to the woman’s phone and social accounts and used location-tracking tools such as Apple’s Find My to monitor her movements without consent.
- While the woman sheltered at the Flagler Beach police station, Fountain reportedly broke into her hotel room, took the teddy bear and sent threats that he would burn or destroy it if she ignored him.
- Fountain faces multiple felony counts including aggravated stalking, extortion, unauthorized access to electronic devices, unlawful use of tracking devices and grand theft, and authorities returned the ashes to the victim and urged others to seek help when threatened.
