Overview
- Authorities say 51-year-old Russell Kot texted suicidal messages after killing Olga Greinert and Yaroslav Blyudoy, then fatally shot Florita Stolyar and Anatoly Ioffe when they arrived before taking his own life.
- Detectives report Kot carried two handguns into the Sarasota house and had two more in his vehicle along with ammunition, five knives, rope, tape and an axe; more than 20 shell casings were found inside.
- Vehicle footage and Ring camera audio helped link the Sarasota shootings to a Fort Lauderdale double homicide, placing the suspect’s car at 11:01 a.m., capturing gunfire shortly after, and showing a man shot at the door 37 minutes later.
- The victims were identified as Larisa Blyudaya, 46, and Ben Azivov, 18, in Fort Lauderdale, and Olga Greinert, 49, Florita Stolyar, 66, Anatoly Ioffe, 61, and Yaroslav Blyudoy, 39, in Sarasota; Kot was found dead at the Sarasota scene of apparent self-inflicted wounds.
- Investigators say Kot had a prior romantic relationship with Blyudaya, had previously stayed at or accessed the Sarasota home, and though the probe continues, they report no ongoing threat to the public.
